This is the English version of the Snivex Privacy Policy. If the two versions can be read differently, the Japanese version governs.

1. Introduction

Snivex ("the extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that captures screenshots of web pages and lets you organize them with tags and folders so you can find them again later.

This policy explains how the extension handles your information.

You do not need an account or a sign-in to use the extension. We only hold your email address if you subscribe to the paid plan, Snivex Premium (Section 5).

2. Information the Extension Handles

The only information the extension deals with is the following.

About the title, address, and timestamp

These three pieces of information are what let you find a capture again months later. They are used for search, as part of the filename when you save to your computer, and the title on the detail screen links back to the page you captured.

• Only pages you actually capture are recorded. Pages you simply browse are never recorded — the extension does not monitor your browsing
• They are stored on your device together with the image
• They are never sent externally, and are included in neither feedback nor Premium communications (Section 5)
• Deleting a capture also deletes all three

About text read from images

The extension can read text inside images. There are three such features.

• Select an area and copy its text (available to everyone) — shows the text on screen so you can copy it. Nothing is stored
• Search for text inside images (Premium) — makes Gallery search match text that appears inside your images. Only when you use this feature is the text that was read stored on your device
• Auto-blur suggestions (Premium) — finds text that looks like an email address, phone number, or card number and offers to blur it. The text that was read is not stored. It exists only while you are editing

Beyond that, please note the following.

• The reading happens entirely on your device. The recognition engine and language data are bundled with the extension, so nothing is fetched from, or sent to, any server at any point
• Screenshots you take yourself may happen to contain email addresses, phone numbers, and similar details. If you use the search feature above on such an image, that text is read as-is and stored on your device
• Text that has been read is never sent externally
• Deleting a capture also deletes the text read from that capture
• If you stop using Premium, text that was already read stays on your device (it is simply no longer used for search). To remove it, delete the original captures or uninstall the extension

What the extension does not collect

The extension does not automatically collect any of the following. However, if you voluntarily type information into the free-text field of the feedback form, that information is sent as part of your feedback.

• Personally identifying information such as your name, postal address, or phone number
• Records of pages you have not captured (browsing history for pages you only viewed)
• Google account information
• Location data
• Identifiers used to track you across sites

This list describes information the extension collects about you automatically. What happens to appear inside a screenshot you took yourself is a separate matter — see "About text read from images" above.

Subscribing to Premium does not cause the extension to collect the following, either.

• Your card number, expiration date, security code, or cardholder name — none of this ever reaches the extension or the operator's server. It is collected directly by Stripe on the Stripe Checkout payment page
• Your IP address — recorded neither by the extension nor by the operator's database
• The full text of your browser's User-Agent — the extension only sends the "device type" described in the table above (a coarse string naming your browser and OS), not a detailed string that includes version numbers

About tab recording

Snivex lets you record a browser tab, for up to 3 minutes at a time, when you choose to.

• Recording only happens when you start it yourself. The extension never records automatically in the background
• A recording includes the video of that tab, and may include the tab's audio
• Microphone audio is only included if you turn the microphone on when you start that recording. The microphone is off by default and is chosen again for each recording
• Recordings are processed on your device. They are never sent anywhere externally, including to the operator's servers
• A recording is saved to your computer as a video file through your browser's download feature. To delete such a file, delete it yourself on your computer
• With Premium, you can also save recordings to the Snivex Gallery. Recordings saved there live on your device (Section 9) and can be deleted from the Gallery

3. Handling of Screenshot and Recording Data

Captured images, together with the title, address, and timestamp recorded with them, are stored only on your device (Section 9).

• No third party, including the operator, can view this data
• It is never transmitted over the internet
• If you choose "Save to PC," "Copy to clipboard," "Export as PDF," or "Export a backup," that is processed entirely on your device, as your own action
• A backup is written to your computer as a single file. It contains your images with the details attached to them (title, address, timestamp, tags, folder, notes) and your auto-organize rules. Recordings, text read from images, image fingerprints, and your Premium device token are not included. It is never sent externally

About information that may appear within a capture

Depending on what area you capture and when, the resulting screenshot or recording may end up containing your own personal information or sensitive information such as passwords. This depends entirely on what you choose to capture and when, and is not something the extension can determine in advance.

The extension reads the contents of an image only when you use one of the text-reading features yourself (see "About text read from images" in Section 2). Otherwise the capture is simply stored on your device exactly as it was taken. In every case, neither the image itself nor any text read from it is ever sent externally.

4. Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions.

• activeTab — to access the content of the tab where you started a capture, so the page's title and address can be recorded together with the capture
• scripting — to display the capture-area selector and the annotation editor on the page
• storage — to store settings and capture details on your device
• unlimitedStorage — to store images and recordings on your device without hitting the storage limit early
• downloads — to save images and recordings to your computer
• clipboardWrite — to copy images to the clipboard
• offscreen — to play the shutter sound when a capture finishes, and to process recordings and text recognition on your device
• tabCapture — used only when you explicitly start a recording, to capture the current tab's video and audio. Recording never starts without your action
• alarms — if you use Premium, to check once a day whether your subscription is still active. If you do not use Premium, this check never causes any network traffic

About access to all sites

The extension does not request access to all sites at install time.

Only when capturing a full page requires capturing content embedded from another site (an iframe) does the extension ask for permission for that specific site. If you don't grant it, the extension still captures everything except that part.

5. Sending Information Externally

The extension sends information externally in only two situations. There is no other path out.

🔴 One of them can happen without any action from you. If you use Premium, the check that confirms your subscription is still active runs automatically when your browser starts, and once a day (see item 3 under "When you use Snivex Premium" below). If you do not use Premium, that check never causes any network traffic.

When you submit feedback

Only the following six items are sent.

1. The rating you chose (e.g., "Very useful")
2. Any text you wrote (optional — empty if you didn't write anything)
3. Which prompt you answered
4. When you answered
5. The Snivex version
6. Your display language (Japanese or English)

Not sent: screenshots; recorded video (including tab video, tab audio, and microphone audio); text read from images; the title or address of captured pages; information about pages you browsed; your Google account information; or any identifier that could identify you.

The database that stores feedback records neither your IP address nor your User-Agent (the six items above are the only fields stored, and the database has no columns for anything else).

You choose whether or not to send feedback. All of the extension's features work the same whether or not you send it. Before anything is sent, the extension shows you exactly what will be sent.

When you use Snivex Premium

Unless you use Premium, none of the communications in this section ever happen. There are exactly six of them.

1. Subscribing (when you start the process on the sales page) — sends your email address, the plan you chose (monthly or yearly), your country, a one-time value proving this device started the process, and this extension's ID. If the device already holds a Premium device token, that is sent as well (so that a repeat subscriber is not given a duplicate customer record at the payment provider). It receives the URL of the payment page
2. Claiming after checkout (once, right after payment) — sends the checkout session identifier, that one-time value, and the "device type"; receives a device token
3. Checking entitlement (🔴 automatically when your browser starts and once a day, and also when you press "Check now" in settings) — sends your device token; receives your subscription status. With no device token — that is, if you do not use Premium — it stops before making any request
4. Restoring by email, step 1 — sends the email address you enter
5. Restoring by email, step 2 — sends the email address, the 6-digit code you received, and the "device type"; receives a device token
6. Managing your subscription (when you press "Manage billing" in settings) — sends your device token; receives a URL for the billing management page

None of these communications includes screenshots, recordings, text read from images, or the titles or addresses of captured pages.

They go to the same operator-managed server (Vercel) as feedback. Only the step that emails you the verification code also passes through the operator's email delivery provider (Resend).

Note that the hosting provider (Vercel) may retain a record of the connection (access logs) for some period; this is not something the extension itself collects or stores.

About analytics and advertising

No analytics (usage-tracking) tools or advertising code are included.

The shortcuts to AI services (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) on the settings screen simply open that service's page in a new tab when you click them. The extension never sends screenshots, text read from images, or any other information to these services.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

The extension does not sell your information to third parties, and does not use or transfer it for any purpose unrelated to its core functionality.

To operate Snivex Premium's payment processing, email delivery, and server hosting, the following providers handle the minimum information necessary for that purpose. Each is a processor that helps deliver the extension's own functionality; none of them is permitted to use the information for its own separate purposes (such as selling it).

• Stripe, Inc. (payment processing) — collects and stores card details and manages the subscription
• Link (a service operated by Stripe) — for customers outside Japan, Link is the seller of record. In that case, statements, receipts, and billing notices arrive under the Link name, and Link calculates, collects, and remits the applicable taxes. This does not apply to customers in Japan
• Resend (email delivery) — used only to send the Premium verification code
• Vercel (server hosting) — the extension's server-side processing runs on Vercel
• Neon (database) — hosts the database that stores the email address, Stripe identifiers, hashed device tokens, the device type, the checkout session identifier, and hashed verification codes

7. Advertising and Analytics

The extension does not display ads and does not include any analytics tools.

8. Deleting Data

Data on your device

• Individual deletion — From the Gallery, you can delete captures one at a time or select several to delete together. Deleting a capture also deletes the title, address, timestamp, notes, and tags recorded with it, the image itself, the text read from that image, the image fingerprint, and any recording saved to the Gallery
• Auto-organize rules — In settings, under auto-organize, you can delete remembered sites one at a time
• Deleting everything — Uninstalling the extension deletes all data the extension has stored on your device, including the device token
• Files saved to your computer — Images exported with "Save to PC" and recordings saved as downloads are outside the extension's control. To delete such a file, delete it yourself on your computer

Data on the operator's server

• Premium information (email address, subscription details, hashed device token, device type, checkout session identifier, and so on) — retained for a period after cancellation, then deleted. It is not kept indefinitely, and it is not deleted immediately upon cancellation either. The retention period is 12 months (365 days) from the date of cancellation. To request deletion, contact us at the address in Section 14
• Verification codes — expire automatically after 10 minutes; no action is needed to remove them
• Feedback you have already sent — because feedback contains nothing that identifies you, an individual response cannot be located and deleted after it is sent. Please review what you're sending before you send it (the extension shows you exactly what will be sent beforehand)

When a subscription ends and the entitlement is gone, the device token is removed from your device at the next entitlement check.

9. Where Data Is Stored

On your device

The extension uses two storage areas. Both are on your device, and both are provided for extensions by Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

• chrome.storage.local — the title, address, and timestamp of captured pages; tags, folders, and notes; image fingerprints; auto-organize rules; your successful-capture count; settings; and your Premium device token and subscription status
• IndexedDB — screenshot images themselves, recordings saved to the Gallery, and text read from images

The extension does not use chrome.storage.sync anywhere — the area that would sync data to your other devices through your browser sign-in (a Google account on Chrome, a Microsoft account on Edge). Your images, titles, addresses, and text read from images are therefore never synced to another device through your account.

On the operator's server

Your Premium email address, subscription details, hashed device token, device type (stored as-is), checkout session identifier, and hashed verification code are stored in Neon (a hosted PostgreSQL database service) and read and written through Vercel (the server environment). These are stored on the operator's server side, not on your device.

10. Security

• There is no mechanism to fetch and run remote code at runtime
• All code, including the text-recognition engine and its language data, ships inside the extension package
• All external communication uses HTTPS
• The extension is restricted to communicating with a single operator-managed server

11. Compliance with Chrome Web Store Policies

The extension's use and disclosure of user data to third parties complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

12. Children's Privacy

The extension does not collect any information about age, and does not process data specifically targeted at any age group.

13. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the extension's functionality changes. When we make a significant change — such as beginning to send a new type of data externally — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page to let you know.
